Young Poles will fight for medals. "Show the best form in the season"

After a short break after the Junior World Cup, our Polish youth representatives will once again be at the start in Canada. This time, however, a much more important performance awaits them in Calgary, because from Thursday to Sunday they will be competing in the Junior World Championships, the target event of this season. "I want to show my best form, which I have been working on all season," says Anna Falkowska, one of our competitors.
During last year's event, which took place in Gdańsk, our representatives won the bronze medal in the women's relay. From the then team, Anna Falkowska, Michalina Wawer and Kornelia Woźniak (with the exception of Natalia Bielicka) remained in the junior team, who are a year more experienced and now have a much better chance of individual success. - I feel that I am in good shape. Of course, there is always a bit of emotion and adrenaline, but that is normal before such a big event. I worked hard throughout the season and I am ready to give it my all - says Falkowska, who was the only member of the Polish team to win a medal (over a distance of 500 meters) in the last competition before the world championships, the Junior World Cup in Quebec. - Obviously, a medal always makes you happy and gives you good motivation for further starts. However, there are always some things to improve.

It must be admitted that there were more chances for a medal in the last test before the final competition in Calgary. - We are certainly very happy with the medal we won, but as always, there is still a big dissatisfaction. In the women's 500-meter final, we had a real chance to win second and third place, because in all the races Kornelia Woźniak proved that she was ready for a medal place - said Dariusz Kulesza, the coach of the Polish representatives - Hanna Mazur, on the other hand, was close to winning a medal place in the 1500 meters, but small tactical mistakes ruined her chance. Krzysztof Mądry, after sensational qualifications, unexpectedly fell in the quarterfinals. We feel very sorry for the relay teams, because once again we are making mistakes that we should avoid.
The coach's words only confirm that with good skating and a bit of luck, our competitors can win a few medals in Calgary. In addition to the aforementioned skaters, our team in Calgary is complemented by Tymon Hryniewicz, Adam Makuch and Noël Vreuls. - These could be interesting competitions. We have been training hard for this event throughout the season, so I think we are well prepared. Now all we have to do is show our best side and fight for medals. Of course, this is sport and anything can happen, but let's be optimistic. The goal of each of us is a medal, but above all I want to show my best form, which I have been working on throughout the season - adds Falkowska.
Kulesza: – We have many indicators that tell us about the form of the players and we know that we did a good job and the players are ready to compete with the best in the world. In reality, winning medals at the Junior World Championships will be decided by the form of the day and a cool head in the most stressful moments.
